THE RIGHT TO PARTY
LOGLINE
Three high school best friends, a British officer's son, an American colonist, and a hopeful Quaker, set out to have the night of their lives before being drafted to opposing sides of the American Revolutionary War.
-
Times are tough in colonial Boston. Edmund Howe is a high school student who spends most of his time seeking approval from his strict and demanding British Officer father, surviving bullying with his best friends Henry, an American loudmouth, and Quakie, a quirky Quaker, and trying to impress the girls in his class. Until a rebel soldier interrupts their school day to announce that the American Revolution is officially starting the next day and he’s looking for recruits. Seeing an opportunity to impress the ladies, Henry publicly volunteers the trio, putting Edmund at odds with his father and Quakie with his religion. The girls’ interest has been piqued and an invitation to a party tonight is given to the boys. After a disastrous game night at Quakie’s house, Edmund decides to give into Henry’s plan and revolt a little by going to the party.
The boys start their night of debauchery by getting drunk at the pub, then high at the pharmacy until a run in with their bullies has Quakie pushed off a bridge, presumably to his death. For Henry and Edmund, the concept of death and the looming war just became much more real. In Quakie’s honor, they double down on their conviction to enjoy the night, and soldier on to the party. Quakie survives the fall but discovers that his crush is involved in witchcraft which sends him spiraling. At the party, the affection of the girls is won but Edmund’s father breaks up the gathering, saving his son from the “rebel forces”. Henry tries to rally the party into saving Edmund but unintentionally causes the Boston Massacre. Defeated, Edmund is taken to join the British forces and Henry joins the rebel cause, finding a damaged but alive Quakie.
Filled with anger, Edmund becomes a ruthless warrior on the battlefield in order to survive while Henry and Quakie endure the tough conditions in Valley Forge led by an eccentric George Washington. As the months drag on and the lust for guts and glory turns to disgust they use their access to Washington and a witches' coven to scheme a way to end the war and save Edmund. Sneaking into the British war camp, the trio reunites and issues a challenge to Edmund’s father, the newly appointed general. The war will be settled in a 1 v 1 duel with pistols. Edmund takes Henry’s place and finally stands up to his father and protects the people he truly loves. Edmund wins the duel, reconciles with his father, and captures the heart of his beloved. In celebration, the boys raise a new flag over a brighter, happier Boston.

When two friends get a crush on the same guy, they have a competition to decide who gets to date him: the first to seduce a Mormon missionary wins.
-
Best friends, Sophie Campbell and Cait Butler, meet-cute the hottest guy on their community college campus on the same day. Their thoughts are consumed by Damian Montana with his rippling muscles and perfectly quaffed hair. The only problem? Who gets to date him? Sophie believes they hit it off in the school gym while Cait argues she made a connection with him in the library. The argument intensifies, each trying to prove they are the better seductress. A bet is conceived. What better way to prove who is the more deserving of Damian’s affection than by seducing the “unseducable” Mormon missionaries on their campus?
The girls dive head-first into their competition. Sophie finds some early success flirting with the nervous Elder Isaac Mortnesen, while Cait fails to penetrate the cold walls of Elder Layton Fullmer. Based on their first encounter the girls strategize to take it to the next level. Sophie executes a plan to get Isaac to take her to dinner by asking harder and harder questions about his faith. Cait dons a more conservative garb and persona to pique the interest of Layton. Both successfully get the missionaries to agree to dinners on Friday night. We follow Layton and Isaac for the rest of their day at the LDS Basecamp. They participate in Mormon-themed frisbee, dinner, showers, and more. As they lay in their bunkbeds and wear their matching pajamas, they giddily try to hide their excitement for these dates and reassure each other that they aren’t breaking any rules.
Dates ensue, Sophie and Isaac bond, and find a ton in common over a meal at the local Mexican restaurant. Cait’s dinner is a bit more harrowing at Layton’s sister Flora’s house. The specter-like Flora pushes Cait’s conservative character to the limit but she prevails, finding a soft, loving side to Layton… and also the fact that he’s absolutely shredded.
Time passes and the two couples grow closer and closer together. Thoughts of Damian linger but slowly lose the iron grip they once held. Isaac encourages Sophie to follow her dreams of being a writer and Layton and Cait go on wild adventures together. Love is starting to brew even if they don’t realize it. As the months pass, Layton and Isaac start to loosen up from their rigid worldviews. This process isn’t always easy but they find themselves happier in the end. Cait decides to finally do the deed with a well thought out lover’s tryst on a pile of hay in Flora’s barn. Before it can begin, Layton breaks down and reveals his persona has been a lie. He was only pretending to be conservative to impress Cait! The exact same lie that Cait has been pulling on him. Cait breaks down and calls off the bet with Sophie but unknowingly alerts Isaac to their plans, breaking his heart.
Isaac returns to the LDS Basecamp and requests to be transferred by the animatronic Joseph Smith deep in the mysterious Chamber of Guidance. The girls are devastated by the loss. Damian Montana is no longer even a fleeting thought. Weeks pass with no contact until Cait returns to Flora’s home, finding a different woman than she had previously met. Flora reveals that she does improv and was only playing a character too. Flora reveals the truth about Layton going on his mission to spend time with her after their family ostracized her after coming out. Cait and Layton have an honest conversation and reconnect. Layton explains Isaac's retraining and Cait, Layton, and Sophie plan a way to break into the LDS Basecamp to rescue him.
Wearing makeshift Mormon uniforms, the girls and Layton sneak into the Basecamp. They almost make it to the Chamber of Guidance but trigger an alarm in the cafeteria. The full Mormon force comes down on the intruders. Layton holds the door to the chamber as the girls confront the animatronic Joseph Smith. After a scuffle, they find a withered Isaac and rescue him. Sophie apologizes and Isaac accepts. The two couples escape and then walk hand in hand towards the next chapter of their lives together.
