CATA (2020)

"CATA" (2020) was the short that gave way to CATA.TONIC PRODUCTIONS. "CATA" was devised for Austin Arthouse's 48 hour film contest in late 2020. The challenge came as a relief to filmmakers Kolby Jacobs, and Lucas McCutchen after months of creative stagnation due to the pandemic. With the prompts of "Documentary" and added line, the duo got to work. "CATA" was submitted with only minutes to spare and explored topics of art, addiction, and altered states. The film went on to win the Jury Prize in the contest and spurred by this success the duo decided to make this partnership official, dive deeper into the craft of filmmaking, and produce more films.

PEPPERONI (2021)

"Pepperoni" (2021) was the first film with the addition of Noah Alderfer on the CATA.TONIC team. Noah, also a Baylor Theatre Performance graduate, brings his charisma on screen and his expertise in audio recording off camera.

SNOW (2021)

Knowing snow was a rare commodity in Texas, the production team jumped on the opportunity to film a quick short during the Texas winter storm in march of 2021. We shot mostly everything handheld as we carefully trotted through the snow. The snow/cold presented many challenges that we hadn't experienced before but we had an absolute blast figuring out how to create this with just the two of us.

BUBBLEGUM (2021)

The first film on location for CATA.TONIC, "Bubblegum" was an experiment into a more absurd genre of comedy than the team had tried before. I recall during the shoot Kolby saying "we were aiming to capture a tiny bit of the essence of summer." Recent addition to the production team, Noah Alderfer leads opposite founding member Kolby Jacobs.
